I’ve been hands on in all things Interior Design for over 20 years. Working with a myriad of personalities, budgets and problems to solve in New York City, Washington DC and San Francisco I come to all my projects with an open mind and a keen interest in truly expressing my client vs. aligning with trends.
Over 20 years I have developed a unique approach called the Interior Mapping Discovery Profile which provides a fun and efficient way of getting to the core of my client and project, such that confidence is brought to decisions and money is well spent on quality.
I add intention to spaces through my background in Wellness. My work is about people. I am passionate about changing spaces to change lives!

A new customer would contact me via email: [email protected], phone: 415.768.4468 or my Contact page on my website: carolinedaydesign.com.
We would have a discussion about the project then set up a time to meet onsite. When distance is involved I prefer to turn it into a 2-hour consultation in which the client will receive valuable design information. Otherwise we would meet for a complimentary half hour session (on Skype or within a 15 minute drive to see if we’re a good fit).
Then I would prepare a proposal based on the entire desired scope of work. We agree on a budget. Depending on the type of project my design fee is by the hour or by the Project.

I review each project and look at how much conceptual, architectural, creative design is involved and how much leg work or “shopping” is involved, how much the client intends to be involved and how much they want Caroline Day Design to handle all details, also what contractors if any will be engaged.
I consider myself well-versed at Change by way of interior environments. The daughter sociologists, we moved between the US and Australia often, to new homes and 13 schools. I am adept at downsizing to essential, meaningful belongings, space planning and organizing while creating welcoming places of solace. I am fascinated by how people live and create “home” across cultures.
You name it - but not pretentious.
I saw a magnificent dance performance in a small theater affiliated with a dance studio where I have been taking classes for 20 years (to add to my previous 20 years of Dance). My passion is Dance - it contributes to the Wellness piece of my work in which I inspire and create inspiring spaces, and it helps in understanding how people flow through space in placing furnishings and focal points.
Tap into a desire to express yourself, come home to who you truly are, create space for relationships and feeling great about life! Leave trends for the “Joneses” : )
Best to begin an ongoing list of any thoughts you’re having about the changes you’d like to make in your space and in your life. Consider how long you intend to be on your current place; allow yourself to dream beyond the practical (there are many possibilities!); consider your time involvement, expectations of the designer, your budget range; what’s essential for now then your 2nd and 3rd priorities. Design for You and your family - accommodating twice a year guests should not be your top consideration - there are ways to do that creatively too without sacrificing your day-to-day enjoyment if optimized spaces; Go Green! for your health and that if the environment; be open to even small architectural changes that could exponentially improve your space; consider reuse combined with new...and more : )
