BAE Systems Canberra Office

Addressing corporate identity and growth, the new Canberra office for BAE Systems Australia centralises their Land and Integrated Systems business unit with other units previously scattered over different sites to one location in Canberra’s CBD. The unification enables ease in restructuring teams in response to project work.

The new workplace provides a collaborative environment for site-based, flexible workers and visitors alike with a palette that reflects a professional corporate identity. Its warm material palette preferences timber, and as much as possible, recycles existing materials to minimise waste.

Around one-third of its Level 1 office area is an open-plan workspace, with the rest allocated for future expansion. Planning maximises views of the surrounding hills and city with enclosed spaces hugging the core, and open-plan areas lining the glazed perimeter. Two central hubs offer a range of shared interactive spaces for teams to come together for research and development, including meeting rooms, training rooms, quiet rooms and informal lounge areas. Level 2 houses training rooms, research laboratories, and classified (secure) and unclassified work areas.
